  • Summary: PikaPika! Pokemon Pearl is an excellent game!
  • Comment: Pokemon Pearl is the fourth best DS game I've played to date. ((Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky, Pokemon SoulSilver Version and Pokemon Platinum all beat this game.) In fact, I've played Pokemon Pearl for 200+ hours!!! Let me tell you, that's long enough to push the game so that it starts causing glitches (e.g. Lv.3 Staravia!!!) Why would a kid play one game for more than 200 hours? Let me tell you why...

First off, Pokemon is way different than most video games. Instead of running around as a blue hedgehog or Italian plumber, you're a Pokemon Trainer, one who cares for his/her Pokemon. Also, rather than adventuring about, smashing/shooting/star-spinning enemies, you challenge them to Pokemon battles. In a Pokemon battle, you and your opponent each send out a Pokemon. Then, you can use a move, use an item, or switch out your Pokemon with another of your Pokemon. Use different combinations and strategies to devastate your opponent. However, you can't meander about with the Legendary Palkia yet! First, you are given a Starter Pokemon: Turtwig (a grass-type turtle), Chimchar (a fire-type monkey), or Piplup (a water-type penguin); choose carefully, since you can only get the other Pokemon through trading! At first, these Pokemon will be pretty weak, but later, you can evolve them into their more powerful forms. Also, you can use your Pokemon and Poke Balls to catch more Pokemon to add to your team. There are 16 different types to choose from (dark, normal, fire, grass, water, electric, steel, psychic, ghost, ground, rock, fighting, flying, dragon, poison, and ice). There are also 150 Pokemon to find before you defeat the Champion (Note: Some of these Pokemon are only obtainable in Pokemon - Diamond Version (151 if you include Manaphy).

Once you build your team, you can challenge the eight Gym Leaders (Roark, Gardenia, Maylene, Crusher Wake, Fantina, Byron, Candice, and Volkner) powerful Trainers whom you battle to earn badges. When you obtain all eight badges, you can challenge the Elite Four and Champion to becomes the new Champion of Sinnoh! After that, you can battle the Champion and Elite Four as often as you like.

But that's not all! You also combat the evil and mysterious Team Galactic to try to stop them from capturing Palkia, guardian of Space. Also, you can compete in contests, where you show off a Pokemon in a different way than battling.

Then, once you're done with that, you can complete your Poke Dex. Try to catch all 150 Pokemon, including Palkia and Dialga!

That's all just story mode. After that, you can do many more missions and battles in post-story mode. You can even catch Legendaries, battle your friends, defeat the Tower Tycoon, and obtain all 493 Pokemon!

In conclusion, this game has plenty to offer!

    Don't mess with the PIKA!

  • Summary: Great Pokemon Game
  • Comment: One of the better pokemon games available. Unfortunately not much variety of pokemon exist in this iteration of the game. A great story and lots of pokemon fun.

  • Summary: A Nice Game
  • Comment: This game is pretty fun. When I first got it, i was really in to it. After a while, it became pretty boring and i didn't want to play it anymore. I didn't know what to do next, what to catch, and where to go, etc... I wanted to end the game already but i didn't know wat to do!I think that it would be a pretty fun game for people who like to explore and have a loootttt of patience. Overall, the game is something worth its cost.

  • Summary: Yay for new/nice graphics!
  • Comment: Not gonna lie - it's the same game as the others, it just looks MUCH nicer. It's just as fun and I finished it in about the same time as the others too. Worth buying, playing, and reselling. :-)

  • Summary: Pokemon Pearl - 5 Stars
  • Comment: As a fan of the Pokemon game series, and of the DS Lite, I am glad to say that I gave Pearl five out of five stars. The gmaeplay includes features from older games, but updates on FR/LG like a new look (and much easier controls!) for the battle system, a much better user interface, excellent use of the doublescreen, loads of "applications" include a clock, pokemon mood tracker, step counter, etc., and battle-sprite animations. Not only is the look nicer, but there are plenty of new pokemon- most of which are also in Platinum- and longer gameplay after the Elite Four. The Champion is more challenging, and there are more interesting, long sidequests.

If you have been playing since Gold, get Pearl. If you have never played Pokemon, you should still get Pearl.
